FREE FEED: Golden Kelp
Seaweed? Yes please. A free feed indeed.
Connection to Country: Forage for Golden Kelp along the beautiful shores of Yuin country and you become an active steward of the land. It’s a delicious way to honor tradition and support a choice toward maximising health and balanced - for you and the ecosystems you’re a part of.(ensure you check out the Dept. Primary Industries Map for the Batemans Marine Park and ensure you forage responsibly in your local area)
Health Benefits: From boosting immunity to promoting glowing skin, Golden Kelp does it all. No need to pay for an expensive wellness retreat when you can just go for a bit of salt water therapy with yourself and get some free food/medicine in the process.
DIY Kelp-Infused Salt or pickles: They say you can pickle it but to be honest, we haven’t given that a go yet. I’m just as happy harvesting, drying fully on the clothesline then blitzing up into a powder, and mix kelp with sea salt for a week to create a flavorful salt that you can basically subsitute for the salt in any dish you’re making or as a flavour enhancing sprinkle.
Get out there and find yourself some golden kelp. Or join us on our Wild Food By the Sea Foraging walk, on Saturday 13th July at 3PM in Broulee.
