THE ‘MAKING A LIVING’ COMMUNITY RESILIENCY WORKSHOP SERIES
MAKING A LIVING
the community resiliency workshop series
What sort of world do we want to create? To honour our ancestors who have gone before us and for those who are yet to come who will stand on our shoulders? What sort of stories and legacies will we leave behind to weave the dreams of children of tomorrow?
We’re stepping into our mission of creating a local hive of knowledge and wonder.
These workshops are about empowering our community with life skills, bringing people together, to support each other building community-sufficiency and providing local solutions.
We’re activated to secure our food systems, to stand in a place of sovereignty around our own health and take charge of our experience of life - to support our individual and collective health and strengthen our connection - to each other, to all living beings and to the patch of land and waters we inhabit.
OPEN GARDEN @ HOME
Saturday 7th December
Garden Open from 2:00PM to 6:00PM - Moruya, NSW
Having food growing in our backyards is one of the local solutions we’re embracing to ensure our community is able to access affordable, healthy, fresh and seasonal food moving into the future. Another of our ‘Making a Living’ Community Resiliency workhops, we’ll be opening our garden up on a Saturday afternoon to show you how we’re taking some of our own food security into our own hands by growing an edible garden.
In just over 12 months, with very little time and resources, we’ve started turning this bare patch of land into a thriving and productive food garden to feed our family and our community. We’re keen to show you what we’re doing so you have the opportunity to see the start of the process and hear our vision for how it will evolve. This is a wonderful chance to see a home garden in it’s infancy, navigating the challenges of growing food on a rural block.
We (Andy and Ash) are a couple of passionate home food growers and whether you’re a keen gardener yourself or just getting started on the journey, this is a great chance to come and connect and inspire each other. We use principles of permaculture, biodynamics and agroecological methods of growing food - as well as other skills and experience we’ve picked up in our decades long evolution of home gardening in the different places we’ve lived.
We’ll be available on the day to walk you round the garden, share any of our insights and answer your questions. We’ll also be scheduling some timeslots for walking tours of the garden throughout the afternoon. Besides that, we’ll be keeping an open and relaxed vibe for people to connect and share in the space - so bring your own stories and experiences to share with the community.
We’ll have some of our much loved housemade wholefood sweets, tonics and refreshments for you on the day too. Price is $25 pp. Kids are welcome free of charge whilst we ask that you leave your pets at home.
